The Chinese Foundation for the Prevention of STD and AIDS (hereinafter referred to as the Foundation), is a national social organization with independent legal person qualification that is approved by the Ministry of Health, People’s Republic of China and the People’s bank of China and registered in the Ministry of civil Administration.
The Foundation was founded in 1988(formerly named the Global Foundation for STD and AIDS and the name was changed as the Foundation in 1994). Since then AIDS had developed quite rampant in some countries and regions of the world, that was posing a serious threat to China, in order to prevent against AIDS communication into China, initiated by Dr. Qian Xinzhong, Former Minister of Health and Ji Pengfei, Zhu Xuefan, Fei Xiaotong and Wang Guangying, the foundation, a non-governmental, not-for-profit social entity was thus set up consisting of STD and AIDS experts, social activists and entrepreneurs. The President of the Foundation is to be approved by the Ministry of Health and registered and certificated by the Ministryof Civil Administration. The President is the legal representative of the Foundation.
